Rosarito is a coastal resort city in the Mexican state of Baja California located approximately 10 miles south of the U.S. border in Rosarito Seashore Municipality. Typically mistakenly known as Rosarito Seashore simply because of the well–identified Rosarito Seashore Hotel, the town of Rosarito is a single part of the municipality named Playas de Rosarito (“Seashores of Rosarito”).
Its beaches, latina escorts and dance clubs are a well-known destination for younger folks from the United States throughout the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Rosarito Seashore is the seat of the municipality of Rosarito Seashore. The city is the 2nd largest in the Tijuana metropolitan spot and southern beach city of the San Diego–Tijuana international metropolitan area.
It is the westernmost municipal seat in Mexico, somewhat farther west than neighboring Tijuana, which lies inland to its north-northeast. As of 2010, the city had a population of 65,278.
Rosarito has historically been centered on tourism and Rosarito escorts. It began with the Ortiz family’s establishment of Rene’s (Bar, Restaurant, Trailer Park and Motel) in 1925. Rene served his town holding the position Delegado (Mayor) much more than any other politician in Rosarito. Rene, a prominent businessman, helped generate Rosarito from a ranch to a town which later grew to become a city. When Rene was not in a position to serve his folks any longer he chose as his successor Hugo Torres Chabert, a good friend and owner of Hotel Rosarito. In September 1996, James Cameron’s manufacturing crew moved to the newly constructed Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito, the place a full scale RMS Titanic had been constructed for the 1997 movie, in which Fox acquired forty acres of waterfront south of Rosarito Seashore.
